Overload Relays

When you need to protect the motors within your process control and automation installation then overload relays are the device of choice. Circuit breakers and fuses detect and protect an electrical system when there is too much current in the circuit, while the overload relay monitors the motor and opens the circuit if the motor is getting hotter than expected.

Overload relays are typically available in two versions - Thermal Overload Relays are designed to cut the power whenever the motor uses too much current for an extended period and Thermal Magnetic Overload Relays detect the magnetic field strength which is generated by the flow of current toward the motor for irregularities.
